Team Leaders - our superheros
Welcome to the Director’s Chair: The Team Leaders' Guide
As a Team Leader (21 years +), you are the anchor of the team. Your mission is to balance big creative dreams with real-world safety, ensuring your filmmakers (ages 7–18) stay inspired, secure, and on track.
Safety & Logistics
You are the voice of reason:
Encourage "out of this world" ideas, but keep feet on the ground. Suggest a green screen instead of a trip to Mars!
Safety First:
- No professional stunt artists? Then no dangerous stunts.
- Prioritise both physical safety and mental wellbeing—keep the vibe positive and respectful.
Location Scout:
Ensure you have permission for private property and never block public access.
The Hub:
- You are the main contact for our Mentors and the Challenge Team.
- Keep other parents contact info handy for emergencies.
Managing the Magic
Assign Roles: Clearly define who is directing, acting, and editing.
The Clock is Ticking: Set a firm schedule.
We recommend:
Friday: Scripting
Saturday: Filming & initial editing
Sunday: Final polish, and make sure that your upload starts at least 10 minutes before the 4:30pm finish
Consent is Key:
Every member must be registered via our website and global consent for all the students is assumed with every registration. This allows us to showcase your films on our website and show them in our Celebration Event.
Without this, we cannot send films to the mentors and judges panel for the special awards!
Making and Submitting Your Masterpiece
The Tech: Use phones, tablets, or cameras—it’s about the story, not the gear!
The Upload: Files are large. Use WeTransfer and allow at least 10 minutes for the upload to complete before the deadline.
Judging & Celebration
Our mentors panel and judges are looking for storytelling, creative use of the three elements (Prop, Line, and Character), and teamwork. While we’ll have special recognition for acting and production, every team that finishes is a winner!
Join us in June for our celebration event.
Thank you for taking this role on!
